A simple way to stop evening scrolling

Give your feeds a closing time and choose a small alternative for the moment after.

You meant to check one thing before bed. Now another video is playing. Evening scrolling can begin in an ordinary gap: you have finished the practical tasks of the day, but you have not quite decided what comes next. A clear closing time gives that gap a different shape.

Write one sentence

Start with a rule you can say out loud: “My feeds close at nine, and I can open them again tomorrow morning.” Nine is only an example. Choose a time that fits your work, family and evening. A rule that ignores your actual life is difficult to use.

Make that time real

  1. In RLX, open Protect and create a rule.
  2. Choose the apps you use for evening feeds in Apple's picker.
  3. Set an evening-to-morning time window and choose the days it should apply.
  4. Check which essential apps should remain available through Always Allowed.
  5. When the time arrives, test a selected app and confirm that your rule is doing what you intended.

This is scheduled protection, not a promise that you will never reach for your phone. You may still open an app automatically. The boundary gives you a place to notice that movement and choose what happens next.

Choose an alternative that is easy enough

Do not replace five minutes of scrolling with an elaborate evening routine unless you want one. A glass of water, putting your phone on its charger, or three minutes sitting quietly is enough to start. You can use a short moment in RLX, then put the phone down.

Leave your alternative visible. If you want to read, put the book where you usually sit. If you want the phone outside your bedroom, choose its charging place before bedtime. The point is to make the next action easy to remember.

Review the setting, not yourself

Try the same arrangement for several evenings. Was the start time practical? Did you block the apps you intended? Did you still have access to a necessary message or call? Adjust those details before adding more rules.

A quieter evening is a useful outcome on its own. You do not need to claim a better sleep score or a dramatic productivity change. RLX can help you set the boundary; your evening remains yours. The app has no subscription, account or advertising.

If your schedule varies, use different day settings or keep the first experiment to one predictable evening. A small arrangement you understand is more useful than a complicated setup you hesitate to change.
